Gene P. Glandon (Symmes) age 84 of Crete, formerly of Park Forest and Chicago Heights passed away peacefully on October 14th. Born April 7, 1931 in Kearney, Nebraska. Retired from Sims Steel Transport after 22 years of service. U.S. Army Veteran/Korean War and Purple Heart recipient. Husband for 25 years of Joyce nee Zeller. Father of Louann Burrow, Eugene (Alice) Symmes, Teresa (Larry) McCubbin, Dorothy Symmes, Sharon (Seth) Kimball, Linda (Eldon LaDoucer) Symmes and Virginia (James) Nigg. Grandfather of Dan, Mary, April, John, Susan, Richard, Ralph, Lisa, Heather, Timmy, Selima, Nathan, John, Breanna, Noah, James and Joseph. Great grandfather of 16. Predeceased by 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Loving uncle and friend to many. Member of American Legion Post 131, South Cook County Voiture 1348, Beecher Amvets Deeke-Ohlendorf Post 67, Catholic War Veterans Post 1060, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Council 993 and Third Degree St. Liborius Council 14562. Longtime parishioner of St. Agnes where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. Proud member of the Park Forest Garden Club. Resting at Panozzo Bros.
