Dr. Andreas Wurzer, age 95, longtime Olympia Fields resident, born and raised on a dairy farm in the small village of Lagenpreising, Bavaria, Germany, passed away peacefully on June 6th. Beloved husband of Hanna nee Daschinger for 62 years. Loving father of Dr. Andrea (Arthur “Tip” McKechnie) Wurzer and Ralph Wurzer. Adoring grandfather of Angela, Emily, and Andrew Wurzer. A graduate of the University of Munich School of Veterinary Medicine, his first job was caring for military dogs for US Armed Forces stationed in Germany. It was here that Andreas met his “sponsor”, Chicago Heights veterinarian Dr. Harry Quick, who brought Andreas to the States. Dr. Wurzer spent over 50 years as a Veterinarian at the Chicago Heights Animal Hospital. Loyal and dedicated to his profession, midnight house calls were common for a doctor who performed his last surgical procedure at age 82, repairing the lower jaw of an abused dog who still lives happily to this day. Dr. Wurzer enjoyed hiking, skiing, and traveling the world over; always with his beloved wife within arm’s length. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (US Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Thursday June 15th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Friday morning 9:15 AM chapel prayers to Infant Jesus of Prague Church, Flossmoor. Mass 10:00 AM.Reception immediately following. Private burial Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery, Monee. May our Heavenly Father, Jehovah continue to provide your family the strength to endure and comfort from the wonderful Hope he has promised us through his Word, the Bible found at Isaiah 25:8 and John 5:28, 29.

He was an extremely compassionate, wonderful person who spent his life caring for animals. He will be sorely missed by many. May the fact that others deeply care help you through this difficult time.
