Gregory G. Strasser, 78, died peacefully on July 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his family. Greg was born on December 16th, 1945, in Jackson Park, Chicago, to Francis P. and Bettejean (Grimes) Strasser. He married Kathleen Claire Martin in Melrose Park in 1971.
Greg grew up in Crete and attended St. Liborius Church in Steger, Illinois. He continued his education at Marian Catholic High School and Servite High School in Hillside, before attending Conception Abbey in Missouri. He served for six years in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Later, he earned his history degree from Loyola University, and nurtured a lifelong love of history.
For 40 years, Greg worked as an electrician at the Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights. Greg and Kathy were active, lifelong members of St. Liborius Church. His hobbies included model trains, Boy Scouting (where he served as a troop leader), camping with his family, and hiking. He dearly loved his family and friends and will be missed by all.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kathleen; their four children; Robert Strasser, Timothy (Janna Goerdt) Strasser, Sara (Jason) Matthews, and Kathryn (Jeff) Miller; grandchildren, Milo and Jasper Strasser; brothers, John (Dorothy) Strasser, Mark (Carla) Strasser, and Jim (Adrienne) Strasser; sister-in-law Ronda Strasser; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul.

Memorial Visitation at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 West 14th Street, Chicago Heights on August 16, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Family and friends will meet at St Liborius Church, 71 West 35th Street, Steger on August 17, 2024 Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Private inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Dear family of Greg,
You probably do not recognize my name, it's been a long time since I saw Greg.
I was one of his class mates at St. Liborius School, way back when.......
He was a very person, and always helpful. Our classmates are leaving us one, by one.
My deep condolences for Greg.
