Joseph John Napoleon, 49, of Mercer, Wisc., formerly of Chicago Heights, Ill., was called to God’s Glory Aug. 19, 2017 after a brief but courageous battle with end-stage cancer. Joe loved Christ and was at peace with his future in Heaven. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed rock climbing, fishing, gathering firewood he chopped from the forests near his home, and building firewood shelters. He loved camping on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage with his father, Vince. Joe loved his dog, Trapper, who was his best friend and faithful companion. He was a 1986 graduate of Bloom High School and attended Northern Illinois University. Joe is survived by his loving parents, Vince and Diane (nee Romano) Napoleon; sister Carrie Napoleon and Chuck Miller; Godparents, Carol and Anthony Bruno; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his dog, Trapper, who he looked forward to seeing again. Joe’s final wishes were to be interred on the land he loved so much and were carried out privately by family.
