Lois Michalesko nee Liedtke, age 84, of Beecher, IL., passed away after a lengthy illness, June 24, 2017, at the William J. Riley Hospice House in Munster, IN. Born in Chicago, to the late Katherine nee Napoli and Frank Liedtke, Lois was raised in the Pullman Community, attended Pullman School and Pullman Tech High School. She raised her family in the Roseland community of Chicago and moved to Glenwood in 1974, to Crete in 1980 and to Beecher in 1987. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Nicholas Michalesko of Beecher, IL., daughters Barbara Flaglore (James) Milligan of Decatur, AL. and Maureen Flaglore (John) Jones of Munster, IN., grandchildren Mandi Milligan (DeLana Finney) of Decatur, GA., James R. (Melanie) Milligan of Decatur, AL., Lauren Jones (Patrick) Madden of Hawthorn Woods, IL., and Matthew (Kathleen) Jones of Chicago, IL., and great-grandchildren Jacob Maynard and Adison Milligan of Decatur, AL., and Ryan Madden of Hawthorn Woods, IL. Preceding her in death were her parents, her dear brother Herman Liedtke and her Aunts Carmella and Isabel Napoli, who held a special place in her heart. She was active for many years in the Crete Women’s Club and in St. Boniface Parish in Monee, IL., where she held several leadership roles, including Vice President of the CCW and Chairperson of the CCW Fashion Show. She was also a member of St. Boniface Fall-Fest Committee and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was chosen by her peers as the 1996 Woman of the Year for the Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. More recently, she and her husband attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Peotone, IL. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (US Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave) Chicago Heights on Saturday morning July 1st, from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Steger. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the William J. Riley House/Hospice of the Calumet Area would be appreciated by the family.
