Lorraine H. Kozlowski, age 82, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in her home, surrounded by her family. From her birth in Crete, Illinois on February 27, 1936 to her death on Wednesday she nourished people around her with love, faith, and family values. She was born at home to Ignacz and Julia (Bober) Nykaza and was the youngest daughter of 11 children. She attended Brookwood Grade School and was a graduate of Bloom High School, Class of 1954. After graduating from high school, she worked at Hotpoint in Chicago Heights and Sealtest in Chicago. She met her late beloved husband Ted S. Kozlowski at a Polish Falcon dance in the mid 1950s They were married on June 8, 1957 in Glenwood at St. John's Church. Left to honor Lorraine and remember her love are Lorraine's three children, Mary (late husband Tom) Jensen, David (Tammy) Kozlowski, Dan (Julie) Kozlowski, and six grandchildren; Jack Kozlowski, Nick Kozlowski, Nicole Kozlowski, Glenn Kozlowski, Sean Jensen, and Carrie Brockway; and three great-grandchildren.; three brothers Henry Nykaza, Wally Nykaza, and Jimmy Nykaza and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, brothers Leo, Edward, John, Ray and Eugene and sisters Leola and Dorothy. She had a catering and cake business where she cooked and baked cakes. Lorraine was an active member in numerous organizations and churches including; Catholic War Vets where she received the St. Agnes Award in 2010, Life long member of Polish Falcons where she was honored as Polonia of Year in 2002, Rosary Ladies of St. Joseph and St Liborius Church, Den Mother for Boy Scouts, PTA, Bloom High School Centennial committee, and VFW member. She was known for her pride in her Polish heritage, her Catholic faith, her cooking, traditional holiday celebrations and her love of family. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave.), Chicago Heights on Friday June 15th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Lying in state at St. Liborius Church, 35th St. & Halsted Blvd., Steger, Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of funeral mass at 1:00 PM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Steger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lorraine's name to Bloom High School District 206 Education Foundation, 101 W. 10th St Chicago Heights, IL 60411 or Polish Falcons of America c/o Dr. T.A.
