Maria del Pilar Sanchez (nee Martinez), died on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family at the age of 88. She was born in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on October 29, 1934, daughter of the late Espiridion and Francisca (nee Tovar) Martinez. She came to America in 1973 and became a long time Chicago Heights resident. Wife for 56 years to the late Seferino Sanchez, she enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crocheting, singing hymns, and cooking for her big family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, she was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and confessed John 14:6 throughout her life.

She will be missed, but never forgotten, for she has influenced by example the lives of many, her Children Librada (Ruperto) Gomez, Jose Angel (Graciela) Sanchez, Petra (Pete) Torrez, Bertha (Rickey) Gonzalez, Martha Sanchez, Nicolas (Teresa) Sanchez, the late Seferino (Karen) Sanchez Jr., grandmother of 27, great-grandmother of 56, and great-great grandmother of 5. Sister of Lidia Martinez, Francisco (Juana) Martinez, Esperanza Martinez, Eusevia (Eduardo) Oliva, Cruz (Angelica) Martinez and the late Ulalia Martinez, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Wednesday December 28, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 6:00pm, time of remembrance 6:00pm, followed by time of prayer service 7:00 pm.
