Perry J. DiGiovanni, 56, after a long, courageous battle arising from complications of a heart & double lung transplant on July 27th, 2015 was finally able to be at peace on February 5th, 2016 at Cleveland Clinic while being embraced by his immediate family. Perry was born at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights on March 3rd, 1959 to Sam & Doreen (Massetti) of Olympia Fields, IL. His beloved brothers are Nick (Tonya) & James (Diane). Nephew to Josephine “Chewy” Zaranti (DiGiovanni), Joe DiGiovanni Sr., John DiGiovanni, Nick DiGiovanni Jr. & Thelma Galderio (Massetti). Godson to Joe DiGiovanni Sr. & Thelma Galderio (Massetti). He married Misty Lee Barker, daughter of Dennis & Ann Barker (Ratcliffe) in October 1984 in Indianapolis, IN who upheld their vows to the fullest, never leaving his side throughout his stay at Cleveland Clinic. Perry’s legacy will continue on through his two dear sons Michael & Ryan, future daughter-in-law Kimberly Breakey, & he is now reunited with his third, unborn child. Loving Uncle to Jennifer Smucker, Jessica & Sam DiGiovanni, Garrett (Taylor), Gavin, Isaac (Angie) & Nathanael Witt & dear cousin to many more! Perry was a consummate Christian, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, husband, father, co-worker, neighbor, coach, teacher & friend. He was a member of Kappa Sigma (Kappa-Beta Chapter) at Indiana State University, an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena as a Religious Education Catechist & Eucharistic Minister, coach & supporter of Mokena Baseball, Mokena Barons, Mokena Burros and Lincoln-Way East Griffins. He loved his family, golf, music – especially Rock & Roll & the Blues, the Cubs, the Bears, the Blackhawks, movies, cooking & always being an active participant in both family functions & his sons’ & their childhood friends’ sporting events. Loved and supported by many of his co-workers, he was an integral and loyal employee of Arthur Andersen LLC for just under 30 years. Perry’s life story is one of inspiration, dedication, patience, loyalty, courage & love. His infectious smile partnered with defining dimples will always be remembered & cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Please join us in a Celebration of Life Service for Perry on Monday February 22nd, 2016 at 10:00 AM CT at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena, IL..
