Dolores Harrell, 89, of Holmes Beach, Florida formerly of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 23, 2016 surrounded by all of her loving children and incredible caregivers Nubia and Veronica Betancur.  Dolores moved to Holmes Beach, Florida in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Patrick - "Red" and brother Albert - "Popsie" in 2007. Dolores is survived by her 7 children, Peggy, Pat, Maureen, Tom, Jim, Kevin, John and their spouses,13 devoted grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren (and one that is on the way). Dolores lived a rich and full life. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was involved in many community organizations including Island Players, The Eyeland Needlers, Anna Maria Tour of Homes, Cultural connections, and The Anna Maria artsHOP.  Those that knew Dolores recognized that few loved life more than she. Dolores had the incredibly rare ability to develop deep, unique, and sincere relationships with everyone she knew. Her love of cooking was legendary and will never be duplicated. She taught her children that there is nothing more important in this world than family.  No one was kinder than Dolores.  To honor one of Dolores’ real passions the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Anna Maria Island Community Center summer drama camp.
