Dorris Segala. Age 100. Lifelong Chicago Heights resident. Graduate of Bloom Township High School Class of 1941. Worked as an Executive Secretary at Chicago Title and Trust and Superior Court, US Naval Supply Depot, and 38 years at Personal Finance CO (Formerly Model Finance Co) as an Executive Officer. Served on many local Boards; Chicago Heights Public Library, Community Center, and United Way. Was a former member and Past President; International Credit Association, Business and Professional Women of Chicago Heights, Altrusa Club of Chicago Heights, St Kieran’s Woman’s Club and Communion Minister of Care. Proud and devoted Volunteer at St James Hospital, Prairie Manor Nursing Home Communion Minister. Salvation Army, March of Dimes, and Food Pantry. Dorris was selected as Chicago Heights Volunteer of the Year by State Senator Aldo DeAngelis. Dorris was known for excellent baking. Baker for many friends and families’ weddings and special occasions where everyone knew her as “Dorris the Baker”. Mother of the late Lonnie (late Joann) Varallo. Daughter of the late Laura nee Ziccardi and Carlo Segala. Sister of Loretta (Joe) Gurgone, Carla (George) Pariseau and the late Rita (late Quentin) Everett, John (late Lena) Segala. Aunt and cousin of many. Lying in state at Our Lady of the Heights/St Kieran Church, 724 195th Street, Chicago Heights on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Mass 11:00 am.
