Retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service as a Quality Control Inspector. Longtime member of St Paul Lutheran Church, Chicago Heights. Husband of Walli nee Baum. Father of Amy (Gordon) Soderlund, Veronica (Bruce) Cole, Linda (Mark) Janiga and Matthew (Tracy) Mayer. Grandfather of Natalie (Daivd) Rister and Nathan (Amanda) Cole, Jason (Ali), Justin (Celia) and Jonathan Soderlund, Madeline and Maxwell Mayer. Great grandfather of Karen Rister, Phoebe, Vincent and Calvin Soderlund, Karen, Matthew and Dominick Cole. Son of the late Klara nee Hartung and Johann Mayer. Brother of Klara Elisabeth (John) Hanninen, preceeded in death by Andreas Mayer, John (late Norma) Mayer, Stefan (Gertrud) Mayer and Infant Klara Mayer. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Friend of many. Lying in State at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 10th Street and Ashland Avenue, Chicago Heights on Saturday July 13, 2024 from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Services 11:00 am.
