Pekar, H. Lillian Pekar nee Gereg, age 88. Lifelong Chicago Heights resident. Wife of the late Sylvester “Syl” Pekar. Mother of Russell (Julie) Pekar and Cynthia (Jack) Malec. Grandmother of Jennifer (Jeff) Sacks, Valerie (Stefan) Kessler, Kimberly (Tim) Zita, and Kyle Malec. Great grandmother of Leila and Carson Sacks, and Jaxon Zita. Sister of the late Joseph (Helen) Gereg. Beloved aunt and friend to many. A talented seamstress, Lil also managed the Second Chance Resale Shop of the Humane Society for many years and was a proud Minister of Care at the St. James Hospital. She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1060 Women’s Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose Chicago Heights Lodge, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the former St. Ann Church. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St (US Rt. 30, 3 Blks E. of Western Ave) Chicago Heights on Monday July 1st from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Tuesday 10:45 AM to St. Paul Catholic Church, Chicago Heights. Mass 11:30 AM. Private Inurnment Assumption Cemetery. Memorials in Lil’s name may be made to the Special Olympics.
