John F. DiMascio age 83. Longtime Crete resident formerly of Chicago Heights. Retired Junior High School teacher for Chicago Heights District 170/Washington Jr. High and Crete District 201-U/Hubbard Trail. Former manager of Model Finance Co. Served the U.S. Army as a member of the 5th Army Band during WWII and the Korea War. A graduate of Bloom Twp. H.S., John received his Bachelors Degree from Dubuque University and Master Degree from Governors State University and was a proud member for over 40 years of the Steger Estates Volunteer Fire Department. Husband for 60 years of Miriam nee Hopkins. Father of Janet (Patrick) Quinn, John (Laura), Pastor Cliff (Susan), Craig (Donna), and Mark (Michelle) DiMascio and the late Jerri Lynn (Norman) Thompson. Grandfather of Joseph and Amber DiMascio, Katie Quinn, Heather (Chris) Hill, Jeremiah (Liz) and Bruce Thompson, Molly (Paul) Drinan, Anthony and Melissa DiMascio, Sean and Brody Quinn. Great grandfather of Emily and Noah Hill, Hannah and Sophie Thompson. Brother of Norma (late Jerry) Zajicek, Regina (late John) Muza and Edward (late Diane) DiMascio. Beloved uncle and dear friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St (US Rt. 30, 3 Blks E. of Western Ave) Chicago Heights on Tuesday August 16th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
