Maria and Simon Mata Sr. passed away peacefully at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, on their 68th Wedding Anniversary. The Mata’s were longtime Chicago Heights residents. Maria (nee Flores), age 90, was born in Taft, TX. and was a proud Homemaker. Simon Sr., age 95, was born in Dilley, TX., retired from Thrall Car Company after 20 years of service as a Machine Operator. Loving parents of Emma Williams, Anita (Manuel) Rodriguez, Juanita (late Carl) Stogsdill, Ruth (David) Newbury, Jose (Rosario) and Simon Jr. (Patti) Mata. Grandparents of 9, great grandparents of 15, and great-great grandparents of 5. In-laws of the Joe DeLuca and late Rachel (nee Olivares) Mata. Maria is survived by 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Simon was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 4 brothers. The Mata’s were beloved by their many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. Resting at Panozzo Bros.
