Mary Traverso, nee Caldana, age 88. Born November 13, 1929 Resident of New Lenox, formerly of South Holland and Chicago’s Historic Pullman Neighborhood. Born in Highland Park, was raised in the village of Salcedo, Provincia di Vicenza, Italy and returned to America in 1951 Passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lidio; son, Anthony; and grandson, Ryan Bernard. Mary was a beloved mother and grandmother who is survived by daughters, Merigrace Traverso, Antoinette (Roy) Bernard, Tania (Alan Moss) Traverso, Lydia Towery, Lisa Huber; son, Lidio Traverso; and grandchildren, Carrie Cogswell, Madeline Bernard, Grace Bernard, Kyle Shannon, Natalie Strasser, Erik Moss, Leslie Towery, Alison (Christopher) Gehron, Micaela Huber, Lexy Huber, Olivia Huber, Anthony Traverso, Dominick Traverso, and Abby Traverso; her sisters Gina (Adriano) Magnabosco, Eleonora Caldana, and Lorenzina (late Eric) Peters; and preceeded in death by her sister Rita(late Daymond) Quick, and brother Frank “Bruno” (late April) Caldana and Carlo (late Anna Maria) Caldana. Sister-in-law to Angelina (late Artemio) Traverso and Bertillo Traverso; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She cherished her children and grandchildren and was “Nonna” to all. Mary had a natural goodness. Her legacy is her large loving family and everyone she touched in life. She will forever be in our hearts. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th St (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Thursday June 28th from 3:00-8:00PM. Lying in state Friday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 West Second Ave, New Lenox. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
