Natalie C. Marcon - 69

4/30/1942 - 3/1/2012

Manalapan, Florida formerly of Flossmoor, Chicago's Roseland Neighborhood and Fish Creek WI

Natalie C. Marcon, 69, of Manalapan, FL and Fish Creek, WI passed away peacefully on March 1. She was an inspiration as she spent the past four years fighting surgical complications and cancer with grace, dignity, and faith. Natalie, known as Pinky to her family and friends was from Chicago, IL where she was born on May 1, 1942 to Eleanor nee Witry and Cyril Sasso. She moved to Miami, FL as a young girl and stayed there until returning to Chicago in 1959 to attend nursing school.

It was in Chicago while on vacation visiting family in 1958 that she met her future husband of 49 years, Fred. Fred met “Babe”, as he called her, at the local parish carnival. After his significant effort, she finally succumbed to his charms and they were married at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Chicago on August 25, 1962.

Natalie supported Fred and managed the family through Fred’s career trajectory. She raised 5 children and built a home for them in the Roseland section of Chicago, in Flossmoor, IL, and in Ridgewood, NJ. Natalie was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, often flying around the country to visit them, babysit, help decorate new homes, help plan weddings and religious sacraments, and, of course, all encompassing her favorite pastime – shopping.

She was strongly devout in her faith and in recent years found great strength from her prayers to St. Padre Pio. She gave selflessly of her time, treasure, and talent touching not only her local parishes, but also charities in New York, Florida, California, and around the world. At the time of her passing, she was at peace with herself, her family, and her God.

Natalie is survived by her husband, Fred; her sons Michael (Mary), Mark (Lynda), and Tony (Christina) and her daughters Michelle and Alison (Vincent) Conti; her grandchildren Keaton Cross, Matthew, Taylor, Adam, Carmen, Frank, Angelo, Gino, and Isabella.

She is predeceased by her mother Eleanor, her father, Cyril, and her stepfather, Harry Libner.

A funeral Mass will be held at the Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Flossmoor, IL on Monday, March 5 at 11:00 am.

Visitation will be held at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home at 530 W 14th Street (US Rt 30, Lincoln Highway, 3 blks East of Western Avenue), Chicago Heights on Sunday, March 4 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
