Roy Joseph Pesavento passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born on June 27, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Pierina (Bernice) DalSanto Pesavento and Natale Pesavento. He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Wilma (Billie); children, Lisa (Donald Stoub) Pesavento and David (Nancy) Pesavento; grandchildren James (Jennifer) Raymond, David Raymond and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Louise LaRoche.  Roy was a graduate of George Pullman Elementary and Christian Fenger High School where he played baseball and wrote for the Fenger newspaper. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois-Urbana in 1949, after being inducted into the U.S. Army in 1945.  Roy was a beloved and extraordinary husband, father, father-in-law, uncle and grandfather. He loved his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He was a member of Lincolnshire Country Club in Crete, Illinois from 1957 to 1988. Though moving to Dunedin, Florida in 1984, he had earlier joined Dunedin Country Club in 1982.  Roy was very devoted to his family and to serving others. He was the proud owner of Pesavento’s Restaurant and Bar at 11500 Front Street in the Roseland/Pullman community of Chicago. Pesavento’s Restaurant was open 20 hours a day, seven days a week and served over 200 persons daily (300-400 on holidays).   The restaurant was a wonderful family restaurant for over 60 years. It provided the neighborhood and community businesses a place to gather and enjoy northern-Italian cuisine. Roy was involved in all aspects of day-to-day activities, working extended hours many days a week. Roy donated the Pesavento’s Restaurant building to the Power and Light African-American Church in 1984.  The Pesaventos wish to especially thank all those friends and family who have shared their kindness, love and devotion with Roy throughout the years.  Resting at Panozzo Bros.
