Italian Cavalier Military Veteran. Came to America at the age of 20. Worked 13 years at Chicago Heights Steel and then as a Parking Lot Attendant and Security at Balmoral Park race track. Husband for 26 years of Barbara nee Tews and 22 years of the late Frances nee DiGiovanni. Father of Maria (Keith) Parise and Angela Melillo. Step father of Mary Jo (Jon) Braasch, Elizabeth Gambino, Anthony (Melissa) Gambino and Phillip Gambino. Grandfather of Francesca and Natalia Peglow, Janice (Damian) Nava, Marisa Hedger-Melillo, James (Aly) Slawnikowski III, Stanley Slawnikowski, Branden, Dakota, Page Braasch, Jake Van Iten, Anthony Jr and Vincenzo Gambino. Great grandfather of Marco Vittorio Nava, James “Jay” IV and Liam Slawnikowski. Son of the late Maria nee DiFusco and Michele Melillo. Brother of Margarite (Frank) Lombardi and Antonio Angelo (Faustina) Melillo. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 West 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Sunday December 14, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Monday December 15, 2025 9:15 am from funeral home to Our Lady of the Heights/St Agnes Church, Chicago Heights. Mass 10:00 am. Interment private.
