Anita N. Schramm - 90

Chicago Heights, Illinois

Our beautiful, kind, and compassionate mother Anita Schramm, long time resident of Chicago Heights, passed away on Christmas morning at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her husband Bill Schramm, married for 61 years. Anita spent her childhood in Chicago Heights surrounded by a large group of friends and family. She went to Bloom High School (a majorette with mad twirling skills) and went on to Beauty School, ahead of her time back in the 50’s! She so loved being a hair stylist and was cutting hair until the age of 78. Her greatest joy was her children Sandy (Gary) Thomas, Jim (Lynn) Schramm and Krista (Eddie) Mirabelli; Grandchildren Chris (Lindsay) Thomas, Courtney (Austin) Wermeling, Kelly and Eric Schramm, Haley, Karlie, Joey and Nico Mirabelli; Great grandchildren Ryan and Nick Thomas and Cameryn Wermeling. She was the greatest mom, positive, supportive, and treated us with love and kindness our entire lives. She was such a healthy cook and cut sugar and oils out of everything. We did all kinds of crafts growing up and she was incredibly creative. A fabulous seamstress sewing many of our outfits and dresses and crocheted many scarves and blankets. As we became adults and began raising our own families, we were over for endless meals and gatherings. She would say to our dad over and over again, aren’t we the luckiest parents to have the best kids! We would always respond, that’s because you’re the BEST parents! She was a wonderful grandma to all of her grandchildren. “Funny Grandma” or “Grams” loved to be at all their birthdays, graduations, and milestones.  She enjoyed picking out special gifts for them and even taking time to send out cards to them in college. Anita loved family and friends and getting together! She looked forward to every party and event. She was a wonderful Aunt, and cousin to many and a kind, generous friend! She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony Perozzi and Domenica nee Cosenza. nee and her brother Guilio (late Norma) Perozzi. She will be greatly missed! In lieu of flowers, memorials in Anita’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, 2255 N Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, Il 60601/https://www.alz.org/alzheimer_s_dementia or LARC Lansing, 19043 Western Avenue, Lansing, IL 60438, would be greatly appreciated by the Schramm family.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear mom. She was a terrific lady and one of my mother’s favorite people. My mom always spoke so highly and fondly of “cousin Nita”. Her kindness always showed especially when she and your dad would visit my mom in Naperville. Praying that you and your siblings are comforted with the beautiful memories of the special times spent with your wonderful mother. I hope you can rejoice knowing that your mom is now ”celebrating” with your dad, grandparents and all the very special people who passed before her.

Sandy & family, I am sorry for your loss. I met Mrs. Schramm a few times when I worked for her husband at City Hall. She was a lovely lady.

To the Schramm family--So many fond memories of Bill and Anita for the 21 years as a close neighbor (2 houses down Winchester). The words in the Obituary were exactly your Mother and was very touching. I will always remember them both as well as you children. I was very sad yesterday when Kenny Cherry told my children (Shaun and Shannon) about your Mother's passing which I know you all feel sad. I started remember the wonderful things that we all did on Winchester in Da Heights. Please remember the wonderful memories of your loving and giving Mother. Also I remember your hard shell but a soft heart Father.

    Krista & Family,

I am so sorry for your loss and hope that the wonderful memories you have of your mom/grandmother/great grandmother will bring you comfort, peace, joy and laughter. I say laughter because whenever I saw Anita, she always had a beautiful smile on her face and  was laughing with her family. She always looked so happy. She exuded kindness, fun and love, especially for all of you, her wonderful family. I am grateful that I met Anita and truly believe her beautiful smile is making heaven that much more bright and happy. My love to all of you!
