Carol Long, 76, of Mokena, passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2021. Carol was born on June 10, 1945 in Chicago Heights to Raymond and Florence (Arcaris) Long, who proceed her. To sum up Carol Long is easy. She was a helper. Each day for 34 years, she kindly served the public at the Department of Motor Vehicles first in Chicago Heights and ending her career at the Orland Park location. She absolutely loved this job and found fulfillment helping others and there never seemed to be a problem that Carol couldn’t fix. She never really mastered the word, “no” and was always able to be counted on. Caring lovingly for her two daughters, Camille and Nadine, Carol was always proud to be their mom. Still, her greatest accomplishments are her grandchildren. Left to emulate Carol’s giving spirit are her daughters Camille (Allan) Schroeder of Bristol, WI and Nadine Mele (Stephen Bacon) of Frankfort, IL. She will forever be the best Nonna, a role she relished, to her grandchildren, Jack and Layne Schroeder and Maxwell, Rachel, and Benjamin Bacon. She is further survived by a sister, Dawn Rae Kratz, of North Las Vegas, NV. Lying in state Tuesday October 12, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of funeral mass 11:00 am at St Jude Church, 241 West 2nd Avenue, New Lenox, IL.
