Edmund "Skeeter" Skowronski
lifelong Chicago Heights
Edmund "Skeeter" Skowronski, a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights, passed away on December 7, 2025. Born on June 5, 1942, Skeeter lived a life defined by service, hard work, and a deep love for his family. A graduate of Bloom High School. Skeeter attended Prairie State College before answering the call to serve his country. A veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1965 as a Radarman 3rd Class. Even in retirement, he couldn't sit still; he spent his later years working as a golf starter at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course. He was an avid sports fan, but his favorite athletes were always his children and grandchildren. He spent over 20 years coaching OTYA soccer and baseball and never missed a chance to cheer on his family and players. Skeeter was a long time member of the Polish Falcons of America. Skeeter also enjoyed fishing, cooking, golfing and famously "checking the weather." He was happiest when traveling with his wife, visiting friends across the country, or simply being surrounded by his family and friends he loved. On August 28, 1966 Skeeter married his love of his live for the next 59 years of Georgeann nee Meyers. Father of Paul (Patty), Marc (Kelly), Eric (Elizabeth), and Brad (Caryn) Skowronski. Grandfather of Lizzy (Tyler) Buss, DJ (Mary Kate), Stefene, Kaitlyn, Maddie, Connor and the late Matthew Skowronski. Great-grandfather of Amelia. Brother of Karen (late Bill) Ogren, Lynn (Matt) Hoff and Gayle Kick. Brother-in-law of Cliff Meyers and Gayle Ohlendorf. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend of many. A sweet, generous, fun, upward-looking man, a wonderful role model for my sons. Now on the wings of his transition to Life after life, Skeeter evolves into Pure Love forever. Much love to Georgeann, Paul, Marc, Eric, Brad, their partners and all the beautiful grandchildren.

Our first hole will forever be Skeeter’s hole—that’s where the day truly began. Skee kicked us off with our “First Hole Cheers,” snapping pictures, celebrating our wins, and catching up on our week. I can still hear him telling us to let others play through since we were soooo slow.
Skee, thank you for filling every Thursday with joy. I will miss you dearly, my friend, but I’ll smile every time I tee off on a Thursday. Swing easy up there—long and straight.
With love,
Leann Fischer

A fantastic Santa in my young childhood memory (I recall tugging at the beard one year when I realized it was Skeeter), a wonderful cook for every First Christian Spaghetti Dinner, always encouraging to any of us involved in sports, and just a generally fun-loving, big-hearted, and generous guy. My heart is with our Skowronski family as they transition, and it is warmed in celebration of an incredibly well-lived joyful life. Love to all of you!

do not believe any one, other than Meals on Wheels, has served more meals than Skeeter. Aside from feeding his large immediate family, extended family, all of us who felt like family, his and Georgeann’s friends, the boys’ friends and friends of friends, he made meals at the fire house, spaghetti for hundreds at the church spaghetti dinners, was a cook at the golf course and he even cooked meals in your home when he came to visit. The food was great, but even more wonderful was his joy in doing it, his generosity, his good humor and the way he made you feel special. His was indeed a life well lived and he will be missed.

Dear Georgeann,
Eddie and I are so sorry to learn of Skeeter’s passing. We remember him exactly as pictured on the card, cheerful and well-intentioned in every way. We’re also reminded of your mom and dad, Marin Sais and George Meyers, with whom we visited and came to admire early in our own marriage. For you and your extended family, we wish the very best.
