Gordon F. Ruhnke age 87. Longtime Oak Forest resident passed away peacefully at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Born and raised in Chicago’s Historic Pullman, he was a 1947 graduate of Pullman Tech H.S. and served with the U.S. Army during the Korea War. A Design Engineer, Gordon worked on the corrugated box industry, retiring as Engineer/Partner with Sterling Container Corp. in Chicago. Husband for 60 years of the late Jennie nee Pozza. Father of Brian (Colleen) Ruhnke, Sandra Hanson and the late Robin Braud. Grandfather of Erik (Michelle) Ruhnke, Andrew Ruhnke, Molly (Bryan) Casner, Patricia (Kevin) Hickey, and Ian Jones. Great grandfather of Helena, Samantha, Alexandra, Logan, Alyssa and Aubrey. Brother of the late Harold (late Roberta) and August Ruhnke. Loving and uncle and dear friend of many. Memorial visitation and service at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave.), Chicago Heights on Monday May 8th from 3:00 PM until time of service at 7:00 PM.
