John J. “Johnny O” Onofrio age 92. Lifelong Chicago Heights resident, passed away peacefully at home with his family on August 3, 2018. Graduate of Bloom Township High School. Career draftsman working at Victor Chemical on 10th and Arnold Retiring from Stauffer Chemical in 1982. 21 year member of District 170 School Board of Education. Lifetime San Rocco parishioner, it was his pleasure to design and assist in the construction of the current San Rocco Oratory and St Anthony Hall. Loving husband of the late Margaret nee Jackson. Loving and proud father of John Onofrio, Julie Maggio, William “Billy” Onofrio, Lisa (late Matthew) Blankenberger, Joseph Dominic (Eileen) Onofrio, Margaret McGovern and Mary Christiane (late Joseph) Kunkel. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Matthew, Rachel, Christopher, John Ryan, Megan, Samantha, Damien, Jack, Eric, Kevin, Aine, and Francesca. Adored great grandfather of 12. Brother of late Camille (late Adolph) Janick and Teresa (late Dominic) Armatore. Uncle and dear friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 West 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 blks E. Western Ave.), Chicago Heights on Thursday August 9th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Friday 10:15 AM chapel prayers to San Rocco Oratory, 315 East 22nd St., Chicago Heights. Mass 11:00 AM.
