Deacon H. John Amberg, Age 95. Recent Olympia Fields resident formerly of Frankfort, Dolton, Chicago’s Englewood and Historic Pullman Neighborhood. Graduate of Parker High School. U.S. Army World War II Veteran. Purple Heart recipient when wounded during liberation of Rome, Italy. After the service John graduated from Marquette University and then worked as a Market Researcher for Bee Angell Associates Research Group.  Husband for 65 years of the late Rosemary nee McKnight. Father of James (Jody), Eugene (Ellen), John (Helen) , Maribeth (Thomas) Rasmussen, Eileen (John) Loftus, Therese (John) Gregori, Michael (Ola)  and Philip (Barbara) Amberg. Grandfather of 34. Great grandfather of 53. Son of the late Elsie nee Smith and Charles Amberg. Brother of Claire Fear, Anna Louise Newton and the late Stanley, Paul, Howard and Robert Amberg. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Deacon John and his late wife Rosemary were a deacon couple and member of the Diaconite class of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1974. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th St (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Saturday July 20, 2019 from 9:30 am until funeral 10:45 am to St Joseph Church, Homewood. Mass 11:30 am. Burial Monday July 22, 2019 9:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name to Presence Saint Vincent Assisted Living Facility, 659 East Jefferson Street, Freeport, IL, 61032 (for Carolyn Rose Amberg) would be appreciated by the Amberg family.
