Your last name didn't have to be Niego to be one of the Niego kids. If you were a friend of one of the Niego kids, Don treated you like his own. Such a great role model as a husband and a father. You will be sorely missed Big Don but you will never be forgotten. Love you.

I knew Don through my brother in law, Pat Gartlan. He was quite a guy. I remember when he drove my whole family to a ND game. He's a better man than I. See you later.

My deepest condolences to Vicky and family. I will always remember Don as a sweet gentleman who so adored his wife Vicky and his children, very much a family man. He had a gleam in his eye updating us on his grandchildren. Many bus trips and parties at Danny T's will be great memories as well as his family weddings. I will miss his sweetness, great stories and that warm "grin" he had. He was an angel on earth helping friends in need all the time and the Niego family will have a huge angel in heaven now.

Don picked me up at my mom's house 46yrs ago to start my career with the pipefitters for Systems Engineering and that was the beginning of a life long friendship. Through out the years we worked together and helped each other. I watched him marry the love of his life Miss Vicky, and he was our best man at mine and Jackie's wedding. I have received and looked forward to my birthday call every year as it was shared with Vicky's birthday. So much of my life was shared with a spectacular man who told me how much he loved his family. It's because of his love of family that gave him his drive and greatest pleasure. With our deepest sympathy to you Vicky and your family on your loss of a great man.

"I got a guy" well I'll tell you Don Niego was "The Guy" I met Don through my brother Tim. I decided to become a Pipe Fitter like Don and my brother after seeing how they treated each other and how they talked about work and jobs. They truly enjoyed what they did. Never an ego just wanted to make equipment work and have fun. At a young age I was allowed into the Carrier Pipe Fitter Fraternity that was run by my Brother Tim, along with Pat Gartlan, Bob Ruscio, Tom Harvey and others. you could call Don at anytime of the night or weekend and he was on his way to help. I have a great memory of Don at Blackhawk Campground where my Brother Tim talked him into a Mud Wrestling match with another camper. He was introduced as "Donny Legs Niego" He did well and then told my Brother "Never again" Another Time myself, Tim and Don participated in a Team Triathlon. Don did the Swimming portion he was the very last out of the water. He looked at my Brother Tim and said "Never Again" Don was a fantastic person, a good sport, a good friend and a great family man. I was lucky to be his friend for 40 years

I'm so very sorry to see and hear about this. Don was a LEGEND in the industry. I was lucky enough to meet Don my first week in the field. And we have been friends ever since. He was a great man who I spent hours upon hours talking and laughing with. He had a huge heart for anyone who needed anything. One of the hardest working men I knew. Even though we did not see each other much. Whenever we talked it was just like yesterday every time. He will be missed and he was love by many, I will miss seeing him come see the band, and making the announcement PHIL COLLINS is here! RIP Don

Our deepest condolences to Vickie and children on the loss of their husband and father. I remember Don as a student in my history class and more recently as a devoted parent cheering his children at many sporting events at HFHS. He often was called upon to repair or replace numerous heating and air conditioning elements at many Murphy family residences. He was gregarious and great role model for anyone with whom he met. His sense of humor and devotion to family was obvious to all. We are proud to say, Don was our friend and we shal miss him. Love Barb and Bill Murphy
