Dorene A. Wojcik - 92

Dorene A. Wojcik nee Ortley. Age 92. Longtime South Chicago Heights resident. Passed away peacefully August 19, 2026. Born on an Indian reservation in North Dakota. Dorene is a tribal member of the Obijwa Tribe and Rabbit Clan of the White Earth Reservation in Marble, Minnesota where she lived after her mother’s family after her mother’s passing. When she was 13, Dorene, along with her sister Shirley moved to Steger to live with her father. She attended Bloom High School. Received her Associate’s Degree from Prairie State College in Mental Health Service while she was working at AT&T after her husband passed. Dorene then worked at the Elizabeth Ludeman Center and Sertoma group home programs. Dorene was very active with her Catholic faith, an avid golfer and loved music and Broadway Musicals. Wife for 18 years of the late Joseph S. Wojcik. Mother of Julianne (John) Pearce, Joanna (Henry) Toppett, John (Linda) Wojcik and the late Joseph Wojcik Jr. Grandmother of Danielle (Robert) Marock, Austin Ramsey, Ian (Maggie) Toppett, Elizabeth (Jon) Williams, Adrian Ramsey, and John (Rachel) Wojcik. Great grandmother of Brooke Williams. Daughter of the late David (Mary) Ortley. Sister of the late Dolly and Shirley. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 West 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave) Chicago Heights on Thursday August 27, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Friday August 28, 2026 9:15 am from funeral home to St Veronica Church (formerly Infant Jesus of Prague Church), 1131 Douglas, Flossmoor. Mass 10:00 am. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Steger. So sorry to hear Doreen has passed away. She was a strong , independent woman who was pleasnt and good natured. Met Doreen through golf on Mondays in Chicago Heights and throughly enjoyed her company. All the family is in my prayers as you grieve and remember. Blessings and peace. Sally Kill
