Henry “Hank” D. Vlietstra - 74

Henry “Hank” D. Vlietstra, age 74, of South Chicago Heights (formerly of Lansing) passed away at home on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Hank was born on December 11, 1950 in Chicago Heights, IL to Andrew and Wilma (Ooms) Vlietstra. He graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in 1969.  He then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. Hank worked for Ozinga as a truck driver and was part of the Teamsters Union #786 for 20 years. Hank was a dedicated member of the Park Forest American Legion #1198 and served as a Commander for multiple terms. Hank enjoyed vintage cars, running and attending car shows, country music, camping and anything outdoors. He was also a coach for Chicago Heights Park District Small Fry baseball and basketball for several years.He is survived by his three children Jill (Robert) Koontz, Kari Vlietstra, and Chad (Christina) Vlietstra. Grandfather of Ryan (Mallory) Koontz, Kaylynn and Jenna Koontz, Dylan Vlietstra-Willis, Hannah Thomas, and Caitlyn and Addison Vlietstra. Brother of Ronald (Debbie) Vlietstra, Andrew “Pup” (Carol) Vlietstra, Jeffrey Vlietstra and the late Herbert (Shelly) Vlietstra and Grace Ann Anders.  Memorial visitation at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights, on Sunday April 6, 2025 from 3:00pm until time of Funeral Services 6:00 pm.
