Janice M. Dobek nee Hassen. Age 72. New Lenox resident, formerly of Riverdale and Chicago’s Roseland Neighborhood. Graduate of Fenger High School. Received her Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University. Retired Special Education Teacher after 34 years from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island and 4 years from Allen B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights. Parishioner of St Mary Church, Mokena. Wife for 46 years of Richard C. Dobek. Mother of Michael “Michelle” Dobek. Daughter of the late Marjorie C. nee Sharp and Leon J. Hassen. Sister of Caron Hassen and Gregory (Ann) Hassen. Aunt of Meghan, Natalie and Sarah. Friend to many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Monday December 16, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Family and friends will meet at St Mary Church, 19515 S. 115th Avenue, Mokena, IL on Tuesday December 17, 2024 for Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Interment private. Info 708-481-9230 and panozzobros.com.

She was my teacher first period of Eisenhower high school she was nice & sweet to me and an excellent teacher & she was very understanding with my situation I'm gonna to miss her and she will be missed & loved and condolences to her family

Jan was such an amazing veteran teacher at Eisenhower High School when I started in 2004. We taught down the hall from each other so she was always nearby if I had a question or just wanted to chat with a friendly colleague. She was always extremely generous, from getting a school supply out of her back closet for a student who was in need of it, to picking up Avantis sandwiches for me when she was visiting ISU... she brightened the days of all of those around her at Eisenhower. My condolences to her family... you are in my prayers.

I attended 8 years at St. Louis of France grade school with Janice. We were friends and participated in scouts together. Janice was very nice, AND a smart girl. My deepest condolences to Janice's husband, daughter, and siblings. May she rest in peace! Sincerely, Doris Ganz
