I am very sad to hear of Norine's passing. She was a funny, friendly and down to earth human being that always greeted me with a smile. I, like Norine, also worked at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and spent, like Norine, the bulk of my career at their Main Office. Both of our fathers at one time worked at the District and both were proud Local 9 electricians as her brother Tim and hubby Joe were as well, We often shared our "District" stories and as Tim and Joe can attest there are many really good ones. When I first started at the District in the late 70's computer technology was just beginning to roll out and we didn't have things like direct deposit. We got checks. Norine and her boss, Bob Fattore, were essentially the Paymaster Section for the entire agency and as you might suspect the most popular duo in the District every two weeks. I had a smile on my face every time they came by. Joe, Tim and your respective families, Sorry for your loss. You were all lucky to have her in your lives. Kevin Fitzpatrick joe

Norine worked for me in the Payroll Section at the MWRDGC for 35 years. She was dedicated to making sure her guys at the plants were receiving their proper time and pay. Anytime a new employee arrived to work in Payroll I would have Norine break them in. She would would teach them every espect of preparing a payroll on a bi-weekly basis. That did'nt take away from her love of Joe Cate, her kids, and grandkids and she would let me know what was going on in their lives. They were her heart and soul. Norine would alwys refer to Joe as Joe Cate so everyome would refer to Joe as Joe Cate, as I still do. Her kids were her life. She was one tough lady as shown with her fight with cancer. She would make the trip in all kinds of terrible weather from Park Forest to downtown to make sure we would make payroll. She should have been Paymaster. She was a good friend, and will be missed. Rest in Peace Norine.
