11/9/1941 - 8/24/2026
Born November 9, 1941, in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood, he was the cherished son of the late John Bonato and Rose nee Dal Ponte. A proud graduate of Mendel Catholic High School and Saint Joseph's College. Ron was a longtime resident of Calumet City, Illinois. He retired from Velsicol Chemical after a dedicated 40 year career as an Accountant. Though naturally quiet to those who didn't know him. Ron possessed a sharp, dry sense of humor and loved affectionately teasing those closest to him. A devout Catholic, he lived his faith daily as a member of Our Lady of Fatima Blue Army and an active parishioner at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, where he served as a Lector, School Board Member, and volunteer for over 50 years. He was also an unwavering, lifelong fan of his beloved Chicago White Sox. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Antoinette née Lungaro. Father of Rose Bonato, Carmela (Chris) Ziobro, Joe (Candice) Bonato, Elizabeth (Nick) Surufka, and John (Caitlin) Bonato. Ron was the exceptionally proud "Papa" of 17 grandchildren: Anthony, Christopher, Dominic, Jacob, Alexander, Gia, Luciano, Bernadette, Vincenzo, Julianna, Rocco, Franco, Augustine, Matthew, Ronald, Riley, and Thomas. Brother of Janice Bettini and the late JoAnn (late Ronald) Rodi. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Resting at Panozzo Bros.
