Retired Sergeant after 31 years from the Village of Dolton Police Department. Longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Lifetime member of The Piscateers in Dolton. Robert enjoyed spending his time with family, friends, hunting and fishing. Husband for 58 years of Darlene Ann nee Fabrie. Father of Greg (Julie) Hammer, Todd (Pamela) Hammer, Keith (Emily) Hammer and the late Robert (Michele) Hammer. Grandfather of Robert Hammer III, Megan Hammer, Jessica (Zach) Hayden, Samantha (John) Nauracy, Hannah and Ella Hammer, Ryan (Ali) Melendez, Bailey Hammer, Breanna (Matthew) Barrera, Adam and Tyler Hammer. Great grandfather of Maisyn, Wrenley, Wade, Dean, McKenna, John, Jordan, Daniel and Drake. Son of the late Harriet nee Haffner and Clarence Hammer. Brother of James (Joan) Hammer, Lois (Jay) Gruenebaum, the late Larry (Kim) Hammer and Jack Hammer. Uncle and friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th Street (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Friday May 17, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Services at funeral home Saturday May 18, 2024 10:00 am.
