Catherine Dolores Skalman. Age 87. Her last eight years she was in a nursing home in Bloomingdale, IL She was born in Chicago and then lived most of her life in Dolton, Il and moved to Beecher, IL. She was a devout Catholic and I believe her faith gave her the incredible strength these last eight years. She was the best grandma ever! Married to late husband Paul Everett Skalman for 50 years. She had three late siblings, Joseph Elwood, Noreen Piermattei and Mary Elwood. Survived by her five children, Michael Joseph Skalman, Paul Gerard Skalman, (wife Anke Skalman) Diane Marie Skalman, (husband Jerry “Chip” Stovall) Mark Edward Skalman (wife Kim Skalman), Kevin Patrick Skalman (wife Erin Skalman) Grandchildren, Ryan Gerard Skalman, Erin Marie Stovall, Hunter Luke Skalman, Shannon Elizabeth Stovall and Everett John Skalman. Nieces Mary Kathleen Welle, Jill Casey, and Janice Piermattei Francour.
A private memorial service will be held at Panaozzo Bros. Funeral Home.

Mom,
I will miss you so much! You are the strongest person I ever known! I got my love for cooking from you. We had some nice trips just you and I. The most memorable was going to Norfolk,Virginia to see Kevin's ship come in from the Persian Golf war. My girls loved you so much and could not wait to go visit! You are now finally at peace with dad, your siblings and your mom and dad ( that you have not seen since you were seven years old)

I've known Kay almost half of my life. I enjoyed the times we had like @ the SS Irish parade and special holidays and events together.She was a wonderful grandmother to all my girls.They always spoke on how they loved her cooking. (especially sweesish meatballs) I know her and Paul are probably dancing to a old Dean Martin song in Heaven right now!
