Marianne Anderson - 88

Marianne T. Anderson

March 3, 1933 - January 23, 2022

Marianne Therese Anderson, 88, wife to Col. Charles T. Anderson (deceased), and mother to Charles B. Anderson, Lisa M. Brenner, Jon E. Anderson, Terise L. Anderson, and Sheila A. Neidlinger died on Sunday, January 23rd at her daughter Sheila’s home in Savannah, Georgia while visiting for the holidays.

The intellectual, a woman before her time.  A strong woman in a strong discipline, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and received her diploma from St. Xavier College  in Chicago, IL.  Her career was initiated at Argon National Laboratories conducting studies with I-131.  A dedicated scientist, it was not unusual that she devoted herself personally to her work – an unforgettable story of I-131 ingestion and a Geiger counter reading with, gratefully, no detrimental effect.

The devoted military wife, a lifelong adventurer. Having met and married Charles T. Anderson, an Air Force pilot, she embodied the role that awaited her as an officer’s wife.  Motherhood came naturally with the addition of 4 children in the early part of their service with an additional child completing the family in the early 70’s.  Destinations to obscure locations with a large family was no easy task, yet it was a mastery she accomplished with ease and without complaint.  So began the “traveler” moniker.

The artist, wisely taking advantage of oil painting lessons from Herr Krupp  in Ramstein, Germany.  Forever we are in the company of beautiful still life’s and the ever present stare of The Man in the Golden Helmet.  A strong artistic gene has been passed on in the family, whether it be music, painting, the medical arts, fashion, or design; she has left a creative legacy.

The entertainer extraordinaire, playing hostess to squadrons of friends, family, and co-workers with an artful flair.  We are so fortunate to have retained some unforgettable recipes that have become iconic for all our past events and for those yet to come.  Grand Marnier sauce anyone?

The teacher, so supportive of learning and prompting all to achieve above and beyond their goals.  Having completed additional coursework and certification as a paralegal in the mid 70’s, she established that there is no age limit to education and there should be no set age of retirement.  She continued her legal career well into her 80’s.   She encouraged her children to seek the highest level of education and professional status.  No amount of education is too much.  A proud mother indeed.

The traveler personified. One could never hold her down on her way to the many points of earth that were always planned, always in process, always experienced, always relived.  Her family, her friends always the subject, always her point of interest. Forever rewinding pasts that were never gone, imagining futures that were yet to take place where we were her destination.

Marianne is survived by all of her children, Charles B. Anderson, Lisa (David) Brenner, Jon E. (Rene) Anderson, Terise Anderson and Sheila (Nick) Neidlinger.  Grandmother of Patrick (Christy) Brenner, Natalie (Logan) Meier, Rachel (Yasha) Brenner, Stefan Brenner, Ethan, Emilia and Nathanael Anderson, Elyse Erbaugh, Alexandra and Noelle Magness.  Great grandmother of Oliver and Owen Meier, Charlotte, Marie and David Brenner, Camilla Harris and Aniston Erbaugh.  Daughter of the late Minnie nee Sterchelle and Azelio Epifani.  Sister of Carla Worthy and the late Richard Epifani and Joan Mathers.  Aunt of Russell Hayes, Anthony and Danielle Worthy and the late Mina Robitaille.

Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Friday February 4th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Funeral Saturday 9:15 AM to Infant Jesus of Prague Church, 1101 Douglas Ave., Flossmoor.  Mass 10:00 AM..  Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth.  For further service information contact 708-481-9230 or panozzobros.com.

Dear All, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Great memories of us all together at my parents house in Palos and glad I got to reconnect a few years ago after my mom passed and visit with her on her trip to Chicago. A true friend with a big heart and she will be missed. It makes me smile to think our parents are once again reminiscing and looking down at us from heaven!
