Steven Herzic Jr. Age 75. Recent Grant, Alabama resident formerly of St John, Indiana and Chicago Heights, Illinois. Graduate of Bloom High School and Prairie State College. United States Army Vietnam Veteran. Purple Heart recipient. Worked at Desoto Chemical as Transportation Manager retiring from Standard T Chemical/Montgomery Wards Paint Division where he was the Logistics Manager. During the first 10 years of his retirement Steven drove a school bus for Lake Central High School in St John, Indiana. Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars St John Post 717 and Disabled American Veterans Hammond Chapter 17. In Steven’s past time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling to Latin American Countries. Father of Kellie (Robert) Kassela, Steve (Meghan) Herzic III and Mary (Robert) Rourke. Grandfather of Caden and Luke Herzic, Reese and Cooper Rourke. Son of the late Theresa nee Varallo and Steven Herzic Sr. Brother of Barbara (late Vincent) Volpe and the late Frank (Barbara) Herzic. Uncle and friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W 14th St (US Rt 30, 3 blks E of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Monday March 1, 2021 from 2:00 PM until time of funeral services 7:30 PM.     In your time of loss and suffering may you find an uncommon peace and understanding. Steve lived an amazing life creating opportunities not just for himself but others. He was kind and the Lord knows showed mercy for others especially all us the kids. May his memory never be forgotten and each of you feel his presence daily.
