Dorothy Ann (McCarthy) McCaughey, formerly of Olympia Fields, IL, died peacefully on January 4, 2022, in Mishawaka, IN. Born July 24, 1922 to John Vincent and M. Zita (Dillon) McCarthy in Joliet, IL, Dorothy was the beloved wife of Michael Joseph McCaughey, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1992 after 47 years of marriage.  She is mourned by her daughters Sr. M. Paul McCaughey O.P.(Mina), Gael (Thomas) O’Brien, Michael Jo (Robert) McQuade, and her son Michael Joseph, III (Carolyn) McCaughey and her twelve grandchildren Robert, John (Jessica), and Maureen McQuade; Thomas (Alexis) O’Brien Jr, Catherine, Bridget, Michael Joseph IV, Mary Virginia, Eleanor, Patrick, Killian and Keenan McCaughey, and four great-children Ryan McQuade and Stella, Reagan, and Evelyn O’Brien. The middle McCarthy child and last surviving sibling of Mary Zita (John) Stephens, Reverend Edward J, McCarthy SJ, Janet (J. Wade) Brady, and Jack McCarthy, she treasured her surviving sisters-in-law Sally (McCaughey) Davey, Maggie McCaughey, and Sarann Slattery, her nieces and nephews, her cousin Mary Ann Dwyer Shane, and her many dear friends and neighbors from Park Ridge and Olympia Fields, IL.  Building their home in Olympia Fields in 1960, Dorothy (Dot, Dottie, Dotsie) and Michael became members of Infant Jesus of Prague Parish in Flossmoor, IL, where they sent their children on to Marian Catholic High School. Known for her quick wit and gracious spirit, “Dotsie” lived her nearly 100 years with a zest for life, including a belief in the power of prayer and in keeping “your sunny side up.”  A voracious reader, Dotsie valued education, life-long learning, throwing a great party, beautiful flowers and laughing conversation.  Her memorial will be held Saturday January 8, 2022 at Marian Catholic High School Chapel (700 S. Ashland in Chicago Heights, IL) with visitation starting at 11AM.  The Mass of the Resurrection follows immediately, celebrated by the Rev.
