John H. Ugo.  Age 83.  Recent Geneva resident, formerly of Homewood for 48 years, and Chicago's Roseland Neighborhood.  Graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic Grammar School, class of 1955 and Mendel Catholic High School, class of 1959.  Employed by Sherwin Williams Paint company as a Lab Technician. Competed in Chicagoland's A Level 16-inch softball league on THE HUSTLER's, as a "hot handed" third base man. Graduate of Western Michigan University, class of 1970, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.  Earned a Profession Engineering Certificate in 1976. After 27 years, retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1999, working as a field forensic electrical engineer, investigating and troubleshooting failed transformers throughout Chicagoland. Veteran of the Air National Guard, serving for 6 years as an aircraft mechanic. John was an avid Chicago sports fan. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed physical fitness activities including gym work outs, running 10K's, biking, skiing, and hiking. His curiosity about how all things work resulted in his ability to tackle any home improvement project, repair and restore antique clocks and Lionel trains.  His lifelong model train passion resulted in his detailed, multilevel model train layout. John enjoyed making wine and grappa with his friends. Husband for 55 years of Linda nee Halenar. Father of John (Laura) Ugo and Laura (Matthew) Ross.  Grandfather of Johnathan, Jackson and Jenna Ugo, Anthony, Dominic and Evelyn Ross. Son of the late Angeline nee Tribbia and John Ugo. Brother of Frances (Albert) Fanscali and the late Joseph (Johanna Conlon) Ugo. Brother in law of the late Daniel Halenar.  Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend of many. Memorial Visitation at Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street, Geneva, IL on Sunday December 28, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Memorial Mass at St Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, IL on Monday December 29, 2025 10:30 am. Future inurnment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
