Alice Rebecca McGee (nee Dobbertin) passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2023, at the age of 91 in Crete, IL.
A three-time breast cancer survivor she was a loving mother to Margaret (Tim) Thoeming, Glenn McGee and Roseann (Jim) Grutzius. She is also survived by her grandchildren Colin McGee, Sarah Thoeming and Jacob Grutzius. Married for 59 years to the late James McGee Jr. Long time Chicago Heights resident, born in the Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood and a Graduate of Harper High School. Daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (nee Devine) Dobbertin.
After many years at home as a mother and homemaker, along with volunteering in her children’s Scouting activities and at church, she later worked as a seamstress at a variety of jobs including the Glenwood School for Boys. She also sold World Book Encyclopedia when her children were young. Past member of the United Church of Christ.
