Jose “Chino” Nieto, age 53, passed away on November 10, 2022. He was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico and resided in Chicago Heights and Matteson, IL. Chino grew up in Chicago Heights and attended Bloom High School. He was a bricklayer by trade and a member of the Laborers Union and Bricklayers Administrative Council 1.
Chino is survived by his son Charles Skrandell (Alyssa Giancana and his soon to be first grandchild; mother Victoria Skrandell) and son Jacob Nieto (mother Vicki Nieto). Chino was the son of the late Maria Guadalupe Saldana-Gutierrez and Hilario Nieto. Chino is also survived by siblings Jose Luis (Zulema) Nieto, Alfonso Nieto,
Federico Nieto, Silvia (Rafael) Munguia, Beronica (Alejandro) Vences, Yesenia Nieto, Magdalena (Ruben) Sanchez, Marcelino (Raquel) Gutierrez, Arturo Gutierrez, Carlos (Janice) Villasenor, many nieces and nephews, the extended Gutierrez family, and countless friends.
Chino had his struggles, but he lived life to the fullest. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He always had a smile on his face, a compliment to give, and made you feel seen and welcomed. He was goofy and always clowning around just to make you smile. His joy and laughter was infectious. He did not pass judgement on anyone, and he would do anything for his family and friends. He loved fiercely and without limits, even during his struggles. Chino truly had a heart of gold.
While Chino will be dearly missed, he will always be remembered. Our family is grateful to know that he is finally at peace.
